www.beneteau393.co.uk
Slipped from Lymington at 5.30 am
Set off across the solent ,Good vis,Sea state slight, wind hardly there
Execellent cruising past cowes in the lee of the sth westerly
turned the corner to head for nab and it got a bit lumpy but nothing to speak of slowed down to about 15 knts for the sea state
I plotted the course wedsnesday night on the chart plotter so everything was ready for thurs am
Set off on auto pilot to the waypoint of le harve
Passed 1st shipping lane completly empty one ship about 20 miles distant
Passed 2nd shipping lane only thing we saw was a seagull
Sea state improved as tcm said it would as we passed to the lee(new word learnt it yesterday) of cherbourg penisula
Opened her up to 18-20 knots and cruised into le harve
Fuel consumption 511 litres is that about normal ????????
Le harve mooring fee 2 nights 32 euros cheap or what
All in all a very uneventful trip worst thing that hapened was when I opened the canopy I got a sunburnt head
I really dont know what all the fuss was about in the 1st place
anyway good thing is we can now get back to talking about windscreen wipers, boat polish and much more exciting things
Off up the Seine to Paris on Saturday (cant wait) then down to the med I will post as I go
1st stage trip up the Seine to rouen on the flood tide will take aprox 5 hours the flood give about 3 knts
Destination the Med Will I ever want to come back ?????????

Hayden's not going to be very happy about this.........you could at least embellish it a bit and make out how you had to contend with loads of trials and tribulations rather than a sunday school outing.....
And just think how the rest of us feel after all the hype of the last couple of weeeks ! We were at least lookingforwad to a tale of disaster overcome by fortitude etc etc.....typical ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congrats!

511litres = 112 gallons is about right if you clocked 90miles. Can't remeber what engines you have - 63Ps? We used to get .8mpg on a phantom 42 on 63Ps

Keep us updated on med progress. It's hot hot hot there at the moment, so step on it. If no-one's around on the canals, get her up on the plane

Ive got Yanmar 250 6lp dte distance was bout 100 miles in total
With some of the canals there so narrow and shallow if I go on the plane there be no water left behind me for any following boats
The rivers are fine you can do 16 mph and most of the journey is on these
Will post all the way down
Met 2 very friendly raggies in le harve had a good laugh with them
Hurray Ive escaped the solent
Friendly people here I come

Hmm your fuel burn is may be a bit high? The 63Ps are good engines but quite thirsty (non electronickery). Your Yanmars are more modern and I would expect slightly less fuel burn? No big deal anyway, not urgent.

When do you expect to arrive at the Med?

distance lymington-nab is about 24 miles plus le havre is 83 miles makes er 107, add on a bit for shipping lanes say 110. Then add on about 15 more miles for fighting the tide bit by bit in little triangles if as it sounds he did when plopped in the waypoint and tracked it from the nab. 125miles, 100ish gallons is still 1.25. er, praps add on 2hours of razzing the engine before he left which is nice and lymington-broomish innit?...er.....

glad you had a good trip, but now that explains why motor boats are concerned about fuel price increases.
We would usually get at least 2ltr/hour on our 43hp.
So if we had to motor all the way to Le Havre it would be maybe 30 litres at the most, but it would take 15 hours.

Well done, Mark, pleased to hear you arrived safely. Any Broom is a big lump of a boat so anything better than 1.0mpg is acceptable. Good luck with the rest of the trip. Keep us updated

E wants to go back practice more. It's totaly appalling. Not even the bog exploded!! Surely he's just missed the problems and has not even lifted the floor, theres either a few hundred gallons of sea water down there or [no thanks], else it's a bloody flook!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
