I've got a 1GM aprox 1988 era as a wing engine. I bought a DC clamp meter to check the ouput of the alternators on the main engine, and that done decided to try the Yanmar. I can't say what happened, but the engine didn't turn over and even the warning buzzer didn't work. Many years ago something similar happened & I replaced the fuse, which is 30 amp and shown in the manual as being close to the plug in the wiring loom. However, all I have is these two lugs, no fuse holder. I've looked everywhere, it's as though it's vapourised. However, the question is, is this where the fuse should be, and what type of fuse holder do I need to get?

There is a 30amp fuse in a tacky inline holder that doesn't look upto the job. If I remember rightly, this powers just about everything except the starter motor. I'm not sure it belongs where you point out though. Are you sure the 30 amp fuse isnt on one of those thingys above it?

When mine dsplayed the characteristics you describe, the main power lead from the battery had sheered at the eyelet under the insulation. Most of the time it made contact, occasionally it didn't. The engine mountings are very soft allowing the engine to rock. If the main power cable is well cleated to the engine bay it causes a stress point.

thats exactly where the fuse goes, it normaly has a plastic wrap around holder that snaps shut. i changed mine when i had it for a blade fuse and holder which i got from a car spares shop.

Thanks to the advice, spot on. The fuse holder isn't sold as a separate item, have to buy the loom at about £120. I was thinking of splitting a water pipe & jubilee clips over, but the blade fuse & holder looks an even better option.

Thanks again
