I’ve been looking at a 1999 Monterey M series with a 3.0l mercruiser. The engine has had a new exhaust manifold. I’ve been reading up, and it could of caused alot of damage. What’s the things to look out for on these engines? Are parts easy to get? And is it worth buying?

Either the manifold rusts through internally or splits if not winterised, or more commonly the joint at the riser leaks, either way these failures can lead to water in the cylinders. I would want to know the reason it was replaced. If its freshwater cooled its less of a problem as its only coolant that gets into the cylinder, but if its seawater cooled then it can be terminal.
