Hi, first post looking for some advice please?

I was given this old outboard by a work colleague, I cleaned the bowl and jet, checked the spark and dumped in some new fuel and it fired right up sounding good..great news...but it seems the carb is leaking and generally is in poor condition with cooling fins broken and some bolt heads etc very very rusty

Is it worth me trying to get spares for it or is this going to be an otherwise non starter?

Cheers

If it starts and runs well probably worth looking into the leaking carb issue unless so many fins are broken that it overheats.

You don't say where the carb is leaking. I f anywhere other than the bowl drain it is probably flooding because the float needle valve is not controlling the fuel flow properly. Maybe just needs cleaning, maybe worn and will have to be replaced.

Steve of Evans Marine Services will hopefully be along soon. He is an expert on Honda 2 and 2.3 engines
