Ok I have a 1985 Mercury 50hp 4 cylinder two stroke it ran fine on my last fishing trip until the last day. It simply would not start...

so I removed the carbs and had them rebuilt by a mechanic. Finally got around to reinstalling them. Still wont start.. I pump the primer bulb until fuel spills out of the carbs crank the engine over... and nothing. I removed the plugs and bone dry. Boat has decent compression, good looking spark

have you tried the plugs to see if they spark.

Sounds like your floats are sticking up, would be the obvious answer. Especially if your plugs are dry and fuel flowing out the carbs.

Fuel pump ? It's often a small square thing traced by following full lines, if it has one.

Well if it was me I would have to involve the guy who did the carbs asi can’t see how he knows they are good without setting them to the engine .
