Hey people! Im new here so go easy on me please!

I have a question about my 1983 Evinrude 140hp V4 outboard!

When running the engine using muffs im getting water coming out some where that im not sure if it supposed to be?!? I have attached a picture to show where it is coming from!
Also, After i have pulled her out from the water the engine seems to hold alot of water and drains about 1.5 -2 Liters on the floor! Is this normal?

Thankyou in advance! :)

P.s the engine in the pic is not mine, I stole the picture from google images!

I suspect its the hole through from upper casing down through g/box for gear shift rod to pass through!
Hence if that is the case as the impellor housing sits on top of the box just forward (toward props) of where this hole is...then supect either the impellor housing leaking or supply hose not seated properly (steel pipe running from housing to power head).

Quite a few outboards leak water from various holes when running on muffs, Suzuki in particular, so much so that they don't get enough water going in to the engine, or it pulls air in, either way resulting in insufficient flow. We run them in a barrel with the lower section submerged so that it gets all the water it needs as when in the sea.
If your engine is cooling correctly and you have a decent jet out of the telltale then its unlikely to have a leak on the pump housing or water pipe, so I wouldn't worry about it.
