this 60 horse has been in the family for 40 years with never a hitch but a few days ago it began running at wide open throttle when started in neutral aka at idle but yet it goes to full throttle. The throttle plates are closed or at least when not running and the only way to control the rpm and get back to shore was by manually adjusting the choke which allowed me to engage the gear case and then open the choke a little to get rpm to get underway and back to the boat launch ... I have never heard of this before. As I said the throttle / gear shift is locked in the neutral position, throttle and gear cables have no slipped and can't as the are captured in a nylon clamp and the cable adjustment itself is only done by turning the adjustment thumb wheels so they cannot move on their own as well. Now this started out on the lake and it was running as normal until it wasn't .... weird or what ?
