I have acquired myself a lovely Phantom 21 requiring light/continual restoration. Made the same year as me, competed in the 1963 Cowes/Torquay/Cowes race. Along similar lines to the Fairey Huntress but within my budget.
There's quite a comprehensive folder showing the restoration a few ago along with a blurred, copied brochure.

Just enquiring whether anyone here might happen to lay there hands on a decent copy of said brochure from there archives.

Thanks
Simon

Your first port of call should be to contact Charles Lawrence, he is an absolute mine of information and has published many books about the birth and development of offshore powerboating including the Cowes - Torquay race and many histories of manufacturers such as Fairey, Christina, Levi, Triana, Port Hamble etc.

It's all available here Charles Lawrence | Fairey Marine Boats, Raceboats, Rivals And Revivals and I'd encourage anyone with a passing interest in classic motorboats and the development of our hobby to make an investment or put it on your Christmas list.

Along with a roaring fire and a glass of something it's a great way to cheer yourself up on these dark evenings.

Excellent, I'll drop Charles a line. Even if he hasn't any information himself he might be interested in details of my Phantom.
Many thanks

She was listed in the 'runners and riders' of the Cowes/Torquay/Cowes in 1962. At the time she ran a couple of Mercruisers giving about 220hp. Now engineless and modified for an outboard by the previous owner who ran a 90hp unit. So I'll be on the look out for a good outboard of similar size.
I did like the idea of fitting a nice V6 Mercruiser, mainly for the sound:giggle:, but would imagine the cost involved to be OTT.
