1933 Hillyard 8.5 tonner \"Hilary\"

This yacht is on the market. The brokers information is pretty vague. They helpfully told me that the hull was 'wood' - presumably they thought I might have assumed she was titanium with a carbon fibre deck!

Anyway, I am not prepared to traipse to NW Scotland to view on the basis of info so far received.

I wolud be most grateful if anybody reading has any information or history of this yacht. The few photos look pretty but, at 25k, she seems a little overpriced.

That does sound a bit steep. What is so special about her? There is an 8 tonner on www.yachtworld.com for about 12K. 12 tonners are about 35K.

You might want to try http://www.hillyardyachts.ukf.net/home.htm
There are some for sale, and you may want to contact some of the association officers.

If you are interested in Hillyards have a look on www.yachtworld.com and search for Hillyard. There are a couple for sale in the med.

Regards

Seems very steep. Have a look at the Hillyard Owners' Association. They have an 8-tonner for around the £15,000 mark, as well as a few other boats for sale. Hillyards themselves sell boats too, so they might be worth a check.

While we are talking about Hillyards for sale, I cannot resist mentioning that my 13 tonner is also for sale and has not reached the Hillyard web page yet, and its not in Scotland! Fabulous sea boats only selling because I want something bigger.
