Hi, can any one help me?
I am looking for the design/designer name for a ketch, no jib, twin bermuda sails, looks like two of my old topper sails and mast on hull. Built in Southampton in the mid 80's, can anyone give me a clue regarding the designer, maker or anything at all that may enlighten me?

LOA 17'9", beam 6'8", draft1'11" to 3'3", GRP hull with with wood cappings. Long keel with two small bilge keels. Also described as having no standing rigging, just two main-sheets, halyards and topping lifts, comes with 130sqft of sail.

Many thanks

Rig sounds like a cat ketch, aka a freedom rig, and the size of boat sounds like possibly a Hunter Liberty (freedom - liberty - see?). No idea whether they were built in Southampton though.

Except that the Liberty is 23ft. ;)

I believe there is some guy trying to sail a gunter rigged version, a Minstrel, round Britain.

I am sure I have seen something on these forums about his exploits

Here is some info about the Explorer from the Builder's catalogue - they were based in Wickham.
