I am interrested to know if anyone recognises the boat in the attached
pictures. She is an 18 foot Stert built by Kitsons of Poole in arround
1950. My father bought her new at that time and sold her on in about
1962/3 and she was then apparently kept at Brixham. Her name at the
time was `Pax` and her sail no. S11. I believe Kitsons later produced a
24foot sailing boat which was not a success and they then went out of
business.I would be gratefull if anyone knows if this boat still exists
or whether any others are still arround

Stert Class

My pal had a Stert for about 10years untill the mid 90s. He sailed in the Solent, with a mooring on the Hamble. The boat was S2 called Curlew, he sailed mostly single handed and was well pleased with her. My pal, thinks about 18 were built and thinks maybe they went to chine ply build at the end. They were carvel built otherwise. He would be happy to talk about Sterts in more detail if you wish; PM me and I will pass on his phone no.

I sailed a few times with him in Curlew and we had some good trips about the Island. I could probably dig out some photos later.

Hope this helps, regards, Malcolm
