I have just bought an 18 foot plywood hulled drop keel yacht, and I would like to find out anything about it. I was told that it was a 'Segal' but cannot find out anything on the internet or elsewhere. I can email a photo if anyone thinks that they can help. Thanks Paul

Think its a "Seagull" made by Bell Woodworking Co (believed sold ready made or in kit form) . Does it have two clinker planks on the bilge? The "Seagull was 18ft and they built a larger version @22ft called the "Sea mew" . A popular boat in the 60s. Still see a few around to-day though.
Technical data:-
LOA 18ft 6in
LWL 17ft 3in
Beam 6ft 9in
Draft 1ft 5in - 3ft 8in
TM 3 tons
Disp 1 ton
Ballast 350lbs

Designed By Ian Proctor for coastal and estuary use the craft was fast and seaworthy and held a fine racing record (so the original sales blurb says)
Prices were £375 for kit and £595 complete

Hopes this helps
Cheers

Terry

Thanks Terry
Yes, you are right, it does have two clinker planks on the bilge, and thanks for the info. It was an ebay bargain, didn't pay much for it and it is really solid. I did try to search for Seagull as well as Segul when I bought it, but didn't come up with anything. Paul
