15% increase in berthing fee\'s (compare)?

We have just received a letter from our local county council who run my local marina informing us that instead of the originaly planned increase of 25% for berthing they have taken into account the current economic climate and are only imposing an increas of 15%!

Burry port marina is situated on the Burry estuary and it has a tidal flap gate set up which typicaly allows us access on average 2.5 hours either side of top water.

Per meter rate will now be £115 plus vat and we have one off annual charge of £25 for water and use of the refuse bins.

How does this compare with your marina/berth?

Whilst I appreciate the South coast crew may well call this cheap! I wonder if the increase is justifiable?

Rob.

£460 a metre (after discount).
When I enquired at Hamble Point, it was about £700+ a metre.
Fine value

15% seems like a big increase, but the rate seems about right, should be that everywhere really, just need somewhere to tie a couple of ropes afterall don't need a shopping centre and exciting state of the art development attached as well.

£328.85 per metre in Poole harbour plus one off £122.34 for services (showers, electricity)

You have a bargain!

For me in Aberystwyth which uses a banded system it works out at £2958.95 or £313.38 per metre for facilities that are IMHO little different from Burry Port - although I feel Burry Port security is better.

For a 20 x 5 metre berth in Cala d,Or Mallorca its Euro 34500.00. Yep, you read that correct.

You don't know how lucky you Brit berthers are.

I always think positive, about the soup / sea we boat in. It is an experience, where else do get plumes of mud / slit coming to the surface.

€397 per M @ Malahide (about £355 ish) - no increase for 2009.

Re: 15% increase in berthing fee\'s (compare)?

At my marina in North Wales my costs have gone up by £12-00 on the year. That is not £12-00 per metre, or £12-00 per month, but £12-00 for the whole year, i.e. £1-00 per month! Admittedly that is with an early payment discount & a small boat (under 6m) discount, but there are few things (especially luxuries) that have gone up by so little in this country.

Re: 15% increase in berthing fee\'s (compare)?

I'm almost embarrassed to put this on public display,

deep water mooring,60 seconds from the Solent, covered by 24/7 cctv (30 day recorded), on the hard, 24/7 cctv plus one hour rounds by security guard, plus random dog patrols, but very limited facilities, no showers, no toilets,no washing machines, no bars, but plenty of water, but here's the benefit read it and weep;-

£3.63 a week, yes I have to pay a staggering £189 a year! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
