try absolutebattery.co.uk

we use them for all our replacement chargers and invertors, if you use a properly designed 12-15 volt invertor you wont get any problems, the cheaper ones dont give the proper amperage and therefore dont charge the battery and cause crashing.
If you use a 12 to 230 volt inverter then you will have to use your existing mains adapter to power the laptop.

hope this helps

Best bet is a small inverter.
In my experience even using a proprietry model (such as Dell) car charger caused problems when not on charge, whereas a small inverter does the job.

Energy Knight .......... had one for near one year now and works fine ... only limit is number of USB powered items you connect as they draw power as well ... but normal use with USB GPS / USB mouse etc. is fine ....
I run with at least 4 usb items fitted and that makes it just over the wattage and so battery slowly reduces over a 4 day period - I know as it did it .... took of the highest drain item ... and it was back to charging greater than requirement - the high drain item was a HDD caddy powered from USB - so I was being very optimistic ....

You would have similar problem with any power source to be honest .... unless of high wattage ...
