12V Screen Wash Pump

I have just had fitted a 12v screen wash pump today.

The pump sounds quite noisy when activated!

Is this normal or is it possible to purchase quieter pumps?

Would love to hear from anyone with any knowledge or personal experience of fitting an after fit screen wash system.

Is it like a car wash pump? if so they are noticable (stick your head under your bonnet and try it), try mounting it using som rubber to reduce the transmiited sound.

I agree. They're cheap 'n cheerful things and are intended to live under the bonnet where noise won't be a problem. Rubber mount and insulate - perhaps build it a little enclosure of some sort round it. Can't think of anything else to be honest.

I didn't know whether it was possible to buy quieter pumps.

The fitter has done a great job!

He is coming back to fit a non return valve in the water line as the water drops back down at the minute which makes the noise a liitle worse until the water gets back up to the jets.

The washers have been fitted on a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 805 so there is quite a rise from the pump to the washer jets.

I guess rubber mounting may make a difference!

Would welcome futher advice from anyone who may have other ideas!
