Does anyone know of a manufacturer of a compact and relatively inexpensive dehumifier which can be run from a 12 Volt DC supply.

Since you can buy 12V compressor fridges it should be possible to manufacture a dehum that runs on 12volts. However I don't know of anyone who makes one. you could I suppose run a mains one - B&Q market a small one that is ideal for a boat - from an inverter but the efficiency of power conversion would be questionable.

The conversion efficiency with an inverter should not be a problem...they're around 90 % today. But the power draw from the battery (whether via an inverter or not) will be horrific! You would be looking at an average of at least 50w perhour.
Thats around 100 amp/hours out of your batteries each day.

My 240v dehumidifier takes 300W ie 25 amps at 12v so only worth considering if you have shore power or engine/s running. Running it off batteries would be OK but modern inverter would cut out automatically as soon as voltage dropped, which wouldn't take long on batteries alone! Also, do you want to run with cabin/s sealed? No point in running dehumidifier if your cabin/s are open to outside with high relative humidity unless you want the fresh water supply.
