Hey ! Useful info, thanks. Just as a quick estimate: to "collect" the same amount of water would require approx 1.5 kg of silica gel. Then you have to dry the crystals out before you can use them again, which would require as much energy, if not more, than using the dehumidifier.

For my money, it's the machine every time.
