Anyone know the story of the 12 metre US52 Heart of America ? (or was it 51 ?) Currently looking very smart & moored in a bay near Fethiye S. Turkey. (actually sarsala, scopia limani region).
saw on hols last week. Owner appears to live on a 'james bond's villain' type floating house in same bay. Most impressive and a perfect set up for the boaty enthusiast with a few bob spare. Just curious.

Thanks TCM - Yeah. looked at that, us52 not listed, but 51 is, so either I didn't read it right or they built 2 & selected the best ? Still, makes fascinating reading, always wondered what happened to Lionheart.

Greetings,

Heart of America was built for Buddy Melges' bid for the America's Cup in 1987. She is 12US51, there was no 12US52 although I thought I read somewhere the number was being reserved for another version of America II. Heart of America raced for the Chicago Yacht Club of sorts. She faired pretty well too in Fremantle.

Lionheart is now in Newport RI and sailing/racing in regatta's there. Newport has become home to many 12 metre's. Courageous, Freedom, Intrepid, USA, and many more.

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of Heart of America? A web-site? With that does anybody know of Liberty, 12US40?
