hi again.

i rang a shop to order a 12:1 kicker and he said that he doesn't know the lark setup that well but wonders if the wayfarer kicker system would fit.unfortunatly i don't know the system the lark has either as my boat came without the kicker.…

he asked as well if i could get away with a 10:1 kicker(insted of 12 as its more expensive and sounds a lot of perchase any way) seeing that im not realy looking to race profesionally and because im not very experienced yet at sailing a lark i might over tighten a 12:1..

his last question was if i was to need the 12:1 kicker then would the sheaves need to be 'dynamic bearing blocks 20mm' or would the normal plane type still be able to put up with the strain??..

PS. if any one has got a photo or 2 of the kicker system in theier lark then can you send me photoes ??

12:1 seems like a lot of purchase for a Lark, but I've never sailed one so it might be right. If you're worried about friction you can always have the ropes tapered.

Do you know how, when and by how much to adjust the kicker ?
It is more important to understand the adjustment needed than worry about 10:1 vs 12:1.
Indeed, the most important thing is the range of adjustment - if it goes "block to block" before fully on then the extra purchase is worse than useless. (And if you don't follow this reference then start with a simple/cheap 4:1 or 6:1 and only change up if getting into serious competition)

Try Pinnel and Bax Here .. But you should be able to make them up cheaper with a little ingenuity .. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif .. Spectra and a couple of blocks ..

The pictures in the guide given by davidwf show a good simple system without too much string to pull by using the double cascade and a 4:1 tackle - sounds as though that's the way to go.

will this kicker fit my lark then without being to long causing block to block contact?

i saw the photos on the lark organisation forum but it doesn't tell you what type it is or where to buy it?

i expect an experienced sailor can tell the type of kicker but ive only had boats in the past using a basic setup 4:1 kicker so ive got a lot to learn yet..
