This forum is just about dead on it’s feet.

With all that time on their hands you would have thought it would be bursting at the seams but it would appear that lockdown has generated mega apathy among liveaboards.

Well, here in Portugal, at least, we now have our ‘road map out of lockdown; starting this Monday 4th May and if all goes to plan ending 1st June.

Oh yes understand, local sailing for Portuguese residents is actively being pursued by the Portuguese equivalent of the RYA.

Just getting out for a day sail would be lovely. As individual sport will be permitted from Monday here in Portugal, hopefully we are not too far off.

Sorry to be a bit of a damper but whereas, surfing and bodyboarding will be allowed from Monday, nothing has been said about sailing.

It's all going to get very confusing soon.
You can do this, you can't do that.
But this is the same as this, almost.
If I can drive to the beach to surf, why can't I drive to the boat?
We can all find justification to do things we want to do if we look hard enough, but the GNR or PM may not agree.
The government can't list every single activity that is on people's agendas.
It will come down to local interpretation by the local authorities I'm sure. As with many things in Portugal. :)
At least things are moving in the right direction though.
I can't wait to get back.
Need my sailing fix.

It would seem that many are in lock down and going nowhere in many parts of the world . Many countries have closed their borders and not allowing vessels to enter port.

"unreasonable" countries here in the carib included Cuba and Puerto Rico, who ordered non-locals to leave at gunpoint, all about three weeks ago early April. Others like jamaica refused them entry. French St Martin has been more reasonable, but insisted on 14-day quarantine on the boat, to stay at anchor in the main Bay at Marigot, not in just "any" bay. Lockdown exceptions include going to the shops, or walking the dog, so I go the the shops every day, and often look for my dog, but still not found it. I expect the problem is that i didn't buy a dog, but I do have dog food in the dinghy just in case. And an in-date flare, and a signed bit of paper, boat docs, passport.
