One of My saloon floorboards finish has been damaged by a spilt liquid, as yet unidentified. To make good I must strip more of the finish back to the wood ( cherry stained mahogany) and repaint or respray the affected area.
Whatever do Beneteau use as varnish because I tried a tungsten scraper but bearly touches it. It also ignored some B&Q paint and varnish stripper I found in the garage. I tried acetone as I had been using some on board and thought maybe it had leaked but no joy.
Any recommendations as to what might lift the stuff?
TIA.

It may be spray lacquered in 2 part depending on what age the boat is. Some of the new ones are now using a plastic type laminated material on the flooring which it VERY hardwearing.

If it is varnish or most types of lacquer, Toolstation sell a liquid paint stripper Bird Brand (I think) that is hellishly powerful, that'd be worth a go, having recently used it on an aluminium speed boat with great success.

I have no idea what Beneteau use but I had some scratches on my Westerly floor that I spilt salt water on. Westerly used lacquer. I used Screwfix No nonsense paint stripper. It took several applications and scraping but eventually got back to bare wood. It also neutralised the salt that had soaked into the wood.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I have the way forward. I found an article on the web about the repair of Beneteau interior finishes. It is a 2 part acrylic lacquer and they suggest a hot air gun on a low heat setting to remove it. I have now tried this on a small area and found it to be successful.
