Pretty sure that part number 12 shown in this link http://www.volvopentashop.com/RKMar...092&catalog=PentaPartsCatalog&name=7734180_25 is on its way out on the stbd engine as it expands (baloons) far more than the port engine and makes a 'pop' sound when the compressor disengages which is probably the flap in the plastic pipe slamming shut. thought I'd replace it as a process of elimination rather than faff about ascertaining whether or not I have a back pressure issue from the turbo or compressor on the thinking it may simply be wearing thin or something. sod that, it's an expensive bit of hose for what it is so either the goodly folk of this forum can guide me on an alternative cheaper source or I'll be swapping the port with the stbd to see if the fault follows next time I'm down the boat.

While I'm on a bit of a rant.. 10 quid for a hose clip (item 13)!!!

Good luck with this Gary. You clearly won't be sourcing the clip from RK. I can't see the pic of the hose on my iPad, but I guess VolvoPaul will tell you if there is an alternative source. Maybe try Keyparts? Not too far away from you to call in? I've got a few maintenance jobs to do on Rafiki, but finding time to do them at the moment is the challenge, but 'twas always thus :)
Have a great Christmas. Are we going to see you at LIBS on the 9th?

Thanks Paul, hope you guys have a great xmas too. Very doubtful I'll be back for the 9th, up in East Kilbride on the 8th and likely need to travel back on the 9th unfortunately buddy

Huh!

Looks like a remarkably simple piece of straight hose. Do you know the ID and length ? I can check our industrial suppliers they may offer something around that size.

Silicone hose on ebay used extensively for turbocharger installs, works well and seems to last a very long time.
Choice of colours as well if thats your thing!

Once you know the dimensions (ie. outer dia of return valve) checking an alternaive off eg. eBay seems obvious. Seems to cost a fraction of £30

Stanless hose clamps plenty available too.

Hi Trevor, the Id's on the schematic and Spi-d (thanks) has kindly posted a picture with it stamped on the hose later in the thread. I didn't measure the length nor width when down the boat but estimate 3in in length and a similar diametre

that sounds promising, thank you. I'd searched on the VP part number and didn't find anything on Ebay but didn't think to search on silicon tube

mmmm, do these silicon tubes flex laterally at all? I think they need to because the alignment between the inlet to the air filter and the squished looking pipe that enters the Turbo don't align. If the silicon is too rigid it may be impossible to fit. Has anyone else used silicon tube on these engines successfully?

think I'll put a call into "The Oracle" that is Tom Parker (Mercuryman /Tompa Marine)

Yes. Fitted silicons to a couple of cars, even some non-standard hi performance. When the tough gets going (boost gets HIGH) clamps may be an issue rather than the hoses.

Fitting might take removal of one of the pipes if sliding on to one side, aligning to the other and sliding back over it won't do.

Gary. Was responding last night when my IPad battery packed up. Anyhow the turbo inlet on my TAMD60 is 70mm, in which case this would fit the bill on eBay 290460924543. I haven't used silicon myself, but if its anything like the cookware I am sure it will be flexible enough.
