Thanks Talulah. Report made interesting reading. At least the Marinco plugs do not have IDC fittings. Now I have the burnt plug taken apart it looks as if it has just got hot around the Live and Neutral flat pins to the point of starting to melt the plastic. Not impressed by the construction of...
Thanks for replies. Yesod, I have always made a point of keeping the flat pins clean and the odd squirt of WD40 so suspect it is more a problem of contact. I think I will change to the blue 32amp unit. Thanks guys.
Could not disconnect the plug & cable from the socket on stern of boat. Had to lever it out. Found over heating had occured and plastic in plug started to melt around the radiused flat pins in socket. No warning from volt meter gauge or fuses tripping on board. Found another MOBO in the marina...
The boat, a Nimbus 345, did not hit Bembridge Ledge but the rocks which surround St Helens Fort.
We were en route from Cowes to Lane End to see the new lifeboat station when we picked up the DSC alert and subsequently monitored both Ch16 & Ch67 (Solent CG). He had damaged both props but was not...
Just back from 3 weeks cruising the West Country. All with usual 60/40 split.
Dart Fuel Barge : 323L 99p/L

Cowes Harbour Commission (just up river of floating bridge, starboard side) : 503L 93p/L
Having mounted davits on my mobo ready for the new season does anybody know where I can get a cover for inflatable dinghy suitable for davits? I can find covers for storage on shore but none with suitable openings for the davit slings.

The Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners from this year require full payment in advance for bookings on the Walk Ashore Pontoon.
Even if you have booked well in advance but want to change the booking dates say on the following day you loose all your money. Likewise if you cancel you...
A factor to also take into account is that the disposal of TEP's is all changing. From 31st March this year. CG and RNLI will no longer take in TEP's. Collection from that time is done by ROMA UK, Portsmouth who have set up 18 collection points around U.K. My base, the Isle of Wight which has a...
Just spent a very pleasant 3 weeks crusing the West Country - except for Salcombe. Although there is a speed limit/no wash in the harbour this is completely ignored including by the H.M.'s own boats.
We had heard such a lot about how quiet it is in The Bag that this was our chosen mooring. Big...
Spending a few weeks down West from I.O.W. end May/June in 39' mobo.
Thinking of staying at either Mayflower Marina or Queen Anne's Battery in Plymouth. Any comments, good, bad or indifferent on these marinas?
Will ultimately make Falmouth. Port Pendennis Inner Marina looks good but is it too...
There seems to be loads of these on the market. I seem to recall a while back that a report said that many are not up to the task for inflatable tenders. Any recommendations or experiences using them on a 8'-10' inflatable tender?
BP fuel south of Floating Bridge, diesel 65p per litre as at 3rd April. Previous owners now retired and fuel pontoon owned/run by Cowes Harbour Commissioners but still same friendly, helpful Staff.
What a change! Went there over Christmas. Great food, reasonably priced and attentive staff. You can have just a coffee, sandwiches or a full meal. The new Bistro building is really good and has an outside decking area for when the sun shines. The Marina lock gates have been renewed so no probs...
If you belong to the RYA contact them as they have excellent legal help.
Could try the Small Claims Court. Does not involve Solicitor and has worked for me in the past.
