Thanks everyone for the advice.
I normally sail the Solent and a visit to Largs last year was my first sailing north of Southampton Water! This year I have brought a bunch of friends with me who are new to this lovely area and we're all looking forward to it!
This weekend I will be sailing out of Largs for 5 days and the chances are we will find ourselves passing through the Burnt Islands between East Kyle and West Kyle.
I have the Clyde to Colonsay pilot book but I looking for personal experiences on the best way to pass by these islands – is it to...
I have a charter at the end of May from Largs and the whole crew are flying up from "down south".
I did "Largs" last year so I know there is a Morrisons about 1½ miles away (which will be a taxi ride with the alcohol and food) so was wondering if anyone has managed to do an internet shop with...
My brother has asked me to find a company on the Solent which will do a good team building day for about 12 of them.
My only experience of this sort of gig is with Sunsail. Someone else has mentioned Solent Sail. Any recommendations for alternatives?
Thanks
I’ve been thinking for a while about purchasing a Personal Location Beacon (with GPS) and as I’m going to the Boatshow, I’m hoping to make some savings on a purchase.
Digging out one of 2007’s mags, The McMurdo Fastfind looked to be the one to have the best review. Any opinion as to whether...

- not today unfortunately. I was down on the riverside at 0600 to see her sail straight onto the dock on her other port side!
So I'll try and catch her later this afternoon . . .
. . .or does she dock facing up river and turn around on departure.
Its just that I fancy going down to watch her turn but I don’t want to turn up at the wrong time!
A group of us are considering a week away in January "somewhere warm".
Any recommendations for bareboat or flotilla during this time and something reasonably priced!
TIA
I have a few night sailing / X Channel trips coming up and I feel the need for a personal EPIRB.
What is considered to be the "best one" out there? And do the prices vary much between suppliers?
Thanks

I have an XM2000 handheld VHF but have lost the original charger.
I have a few universal chargers around the house which I could use but need to know what the voltage and polarity is of the connector, i.e. is the +ve on the inside or outside of the plug?
Thanks
I’ve been looking at the key sponsors sites but can't see anything but links to the main site itself.
Anyone able to beat the “discounted” price of 12.50 + the 1.25 “transaction fee”?
A mate of mine is on holiday in Weymouth and is looking to hire a dinghy for a few days.
He ran out of time before he left so was unable to do some investigating.
Can anyone give me some recommendations for the Weymouth area?

I’m off to do Cork Week soon and would like to find some information on the web before I go that describes the characteristics of the waters around Cork.
Assuming there is something out there, can anyone point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Paul
