You are right, the Ocean 33 does go well in light airs, she has a fairly powerful rig especially with the fully battened main. In a breeze just reef down accordingly and she won't be a handful. In a breeze you will get better performance hard to windward with a neatly rolled flat genoa or a...
Had a similar problem with a MD 2030 last year. The flexible drive coupling plate failed because the bearing on the gearbox input shaft had seized. Don't replace the drive plate and put it all back together before checking the gearbox - ask me how I know!

I need some ideas on how to improve the way the liferaft cradle is fixed to the garage above the sliding hatch.
Can the sliding hatch be removed easily to allow access to the space under the garage so the liferaft cradle can be bolted down?
Re: I don\'t believe it -
Is that the same MV Willy that went aground in Cawsand Bay on New Years Day 2002 and caused the the two villages of Kingsand and Cawsand to be evacuated?
Many thanks for your hints and tips on the hull itself. Is there anything particular to look out for with the Yanmar engine - are they prone to any problems in particular?
Many Thanks
