Hi,
I replaced the keel of a Jaguar 22 a few years ago.
Here is a link to an article I wrote about doing just this, including drawings etc :-

Good luck with whatever you choose.

In my book, good technique is to drop the anchor and ensure the chain is laid away from it rather than just dropping the whole lot in a pile. When you turn 180 degrees the chain should still be laid out along the seabed and allow the anchor to re-set. It's the resetting that I want my anchor to...
I live at Selsey and there shouldn't be a problem anchoring to the East of the Lifebaot station but beware of the moorings.
If you turn North just before the Mixon pole at High tide you won't have a problem with depth but note that the tide does run quite quickly around the Bill. The beach is...
I would like add a electric motor to steer my outboard engine. I am thinking of something with a push and pull action. It doesn't need to turn very far - about 15 degrees each way. Anyone got any ideas of something I could use?
Thank you, Steve
Hi
I am looking to do some tidying up of our woodwork in the next few weeks. I am not sure what to use. I have tried Le Tonko?? before and found it easy to apply but difficult to store. it also went rather a funny yellow colour. I have also used two pack polyurethane which was very expensive...
We have been to Mohammadia - had a complete dock to ourselves, since we couldn't get into the small marina - 40' cat. Enjoyed our stay as it seems like an adventure after Europe. Next stop was El Jadida which is a fishing port. Ahmed will look after you but beware of the fishing boats - we and...
On our cat we had chain and then a rope rode that was set from the centre of the boat. We then used a 3 legged rope bridle that was fixed to cleats on each hull and attached to the rode with a rolling hitch. Whatever method you use, remember you may want to let out more rode if the weather...
I think you going in the right direction. It is much easier planning in the comfort of the saloon rather than onto your chart plotter which should be at the helm. Afraid I can't recommend a system but ideally you would be able to send the info from your laptop directly to the plotter. I have...
If you can get it, soak in a dustbin or similar with 'Biotec' washing powder, for about a week. Then lay out in the sun and apply lemon juice and sprinkle with salt. This will bring the stains out. It won't get rid of them completly but works very well!
Re:Tandem anchors!
The other advantage of a 'V' anchor is that you can put out an extra anchor to your original single anchor if the need arises, without having to start all over again. I've laid an extra Bruce out, with no chain, in the dingy, and have been amazed at how well it held and...
Never sailed one but had a look around one. I thought the interior
was well laid out.
I didn't like the fact that it had an emergency float fitted to the top of the mast. Must have been there for a reason!
