Mooring woes may be boat dream in Tatters

Sorry to hear of the problems. As Tico says, Dry Stack is about the same cost as marina but your boat will require less maintenance as it won't suffer the wear and tear of being in the water. Also you are approaching the time when berths will be free for the winter. Ours, for example, in...

No Sign of the Credit Crunch in West Wales!

If you have a trailer Rudders do a store and launch service during the summer. There are slipways on the Haven but launching your own boat into the tideway with the tidal range adds another level of challenge.

No Sign of the Credit Crunch in West Wales!

Be launched at Dale Dry Stack. Head upriver to Lawrenny. Moor to the pub’s pontoon and walk ashore for beer, food or whatever you fancy. Look down on your boat. Head back downriver. Moor at Dale Sailing. Let them recover and wash off. Alternatively head off from Dale Sailing. Cruise around a...

No Sign of the Credit Crunch in West Wales!

Have you considered Dale Sailing’s Dry Stack? They recently said they had some spaces. Next to Neyland Marina. I did a season there with a Merry Fisher 695. They can go up to about 9 metres I believe. Well organised and launch usually within an hour of texting them.

Best way to move a boat East Coast to West.

I would suggest a skipper plus the cost of fuel is going to be an expensive option compared with trucking across to West Wales. The weather is also a big factor and can delay a passage for days. You would need perfect conditions for a boat that size (I am slightly smaller). I would suggest...

Best West Wales Marina with decent River Cruise

Can be good to build confidence on a river like the Thames (I did so on the Medway many decades ago!) but you could find it restricting after a while. The Cleddau is a lovely river and I’ve been in Neyland five years now but as Tico says it’s a wide stretch of water and anywhere downriver of...

I’m heading from West Wales to that London on 14 July and have been invited to stop by the Trad Boat Festival to say hello to a friend who’ll be participating so can any of you good people tell me about parking? I’m a regular visitor to Henley and have walked the Meadows before so know the...

    South Wales Berths for Powerboat

Welcome to Wales. From Lampeter your nearest marina would be Aberystwyth and be straight out into the Irish Sea which is fine but can be limiting with the prevailing winds. I'm near Carmarthen and Milford is over an hour for me. Longer on a summer's day with the trippers heading to...
