I used Simon Allen for my last survey and would recommend him. I know every nut and bolt on my boat and he found all the defects i knew about. I have heard Ben Sutcliffe is good too, but i've never dealt with him.
Today someone suggested that cranking the engine with the seacock open could have flooded the exhaust. Yes,it could, but surely the engine would hydraulic before water got into the oil? (after layup it did take a few cranks to fire up but it was fine when running)

Mine has a gooseneck at the stern , a Vetus water trap and a Vetus anti-syphon valve running from the exhaust elbow.
It had two seals but only one separated the oil if i remember correctly

The stuff i drained out was 7ltr of light grey emulsion. Its in a drum onboard so i'll poor some into a glass container tomorrow.

I don't quite understand.Surely if you stay in the channel you'll be fine? Don't cut any corners as the banks are quite steep.
