I have a few Metz antenna whip kits left from the business. Each includes 34" stainless whip, red tip cap, compression nut, ferrule and red compression post cover. (These are Metz whip kits, replacement whips, not complete antennas) £20 each including UK postage.

A whip antenna comprises a coil, looks like a small tin can, into which is fitted a stiff stainless wire whip. Together they are a complete vhf antenna. The items I have are the 34" wire whip and fastenings to go with a Metz antenna coil. The whip can be damaged by bird strikes, or careless...

I have about a dozen Metz antenna replacement whip kits available. They comprise the 34" whip, red tip cover, compression nut, ferrule and red plastic cover for the compression post. £20 each including UK postage.

For an 18m run I'd use RG8X. It will give you about 40% loss in the cable. RG58 over that distance will lose about 65%. RG213 is even lower loss, of course, but more difficult to handle. Contrary to some wild statements you see from time to time, insertion loss on a PL259 is minimal, a fraction...
