Furuno gp32

I have a GP32 interfaced to a Nasa repeater and other instruments. Should work with a 4000. Yellow wire is NMEA out, blue is signal ground. Will need the GP32 set to NMEA v2 and Data2 to type REM (not AP as the 4000 should work out the course for itself from the position and next waypoint...

cheap places liftout in solent area or west country?

You could try KB Boatpark (023 92833166) on the Camber, Portsmouth side opposite Gosport marina. They have a 50T crane and cost me just under £400 for a 39ft/15T lift out/lift in last year, plus £34/week on the hard.

    Large hole in steel

Thanks very much all. Think I can see what to do using the tools available. Main point seems to be to keep it as slow as possible and keep the bit (only HSS) cool and lubricated.

    Large hole in steel

I need to drill a 90mm diameter hole in a 4mm steel coaming to take a Raymarine autopilot housing. I have a holesaw suitable for steel. The position does not allow for anything better than a handheld electric drill. Experience in wood suggests the most likely outcome is being thrown across the...

    Stainless fabricator - Gosport

Recommend Fluid Fabrications, Unit E2, Sanderson Centre, off Moreland Rd. Did a good job on a wind generator pole at a reasonable price. Contact is Steve Rawlins, 0780 8766676.

    Callisto polars

Would this be the 1990 435 Distant Drum or the (name unknown) 1998 460 last seen at a Mallorca broker? Have a partial list of Callistos from my own efforts to find out more about the construction and performance modifications. Assume you are talking about the in-keel tankage? Safran has a 50gal...

    Raw water pump drip

Thanks very much to all. Will replace the pump as soon as the new one just ordered arrives and rebuild the present one as a spare - sounds as though I will probably have to have the shaft built back up.

    Raw water pump drip

I have a drip from the aft seal on my Perkins 4.108 raw water pump, about 1 drip every 3 seconds. The seals round the shaft are evidently going, with the possibility of shaft wear. The question is, how quickly is this likely to get worse? Should I replace the seals/shaft immediately or can I...

    Furuno GPS, repeaters and software

I have a Furuno GP32 driving a NASA repeater with no problems - standard connections as per manual. There is a small oddity in that the Furuno only transmits the NMEA sentence that the NASA repeater uses to get speed and course when a waypoint has been set - unless this is done the repeater...

    Anodes

If zinc casting alloy then 375-400 deg C depending on the aluminimum content. Assume you are not melting magnesium alloy, needs a slag or inert cover gas and considerable care and melts in the 630 deg C range. It is important to preheat all ladles and moulds above boiling point to remove all...

    Brass Whitworth

Re: As no reply to this... Thanks, based in Gosport so will undoubtedly get over to Cowes some time in the near future - will try Paskal Atkey.

    Brass Whitworth

Thanks, very useful site. Lot of (unfortunately expensive) gear there I could use.

    Brass Whitworth

Does anybody know a source for small quantities of brass Whitworth bolts and nuts please? Am looking for 3/8" BSW brass hex head full thread, length >=1". Can only find in expensive 100 minimum quantities and only need a couple.

    Callisto polars

Has anyone got polars for a Callisto 385 please? Come to think of it, does anyone else have a Callisto 385?

    NMEA multiplexer

Would certainly be interested in a circuit diagram and pre-programmed PIC or binary for your NMEA mux if made available. Would not expect any problems in construction requiring support. Look forward to seeing how this evolves.
