    Toerail fairlead

Refueler "I had 'hose-pipe' protectors but they wouldn't stay in place ..." Three hefty cable ties on the line at 120 degree spacing just below the hose pipe will keep it in place. Particularly good for lines left permanently on the pontoon at your home berth.

    Port Quin seaweed farm

You are right, the proposal will not directly affect the anchorage but it won't improve access. I must admit I have never sailed in to Padstow but posted this as a heads up for those who do and may want to stop in the bay. To my jaundiced eye I can’t see it as anything other than an attempt to...

    Port Quin seaweed farm

Hadn't seen anything about this until I was down in Cornwall last week. Does anyone know what the RYA response to the consultation was and did the RYA let their members know? Sadly it doesn't look like an April fool's joke. If the scheme goes ahead it looks like the end of Port Quin as an...

That's your deckhead or overhead that's got the holes. Your ceiling is the internal lining of the hull. Just saying.

    Jeanne Socrates

I cannot see that it has been mentioned here before now but Jeanne Socrates took a fall from the top of the ladder when coming down from Nereida in the boatyard at the beginning of the month. She has been in hospital but is out and about now - https://svnereida.com/blog. I am sure we all wish...

    Propeller in cabin baggage.

If you are taking something on a flight as hand luggage the airline and security both need to be happy . At check in the airline representative is unlikely to ask if you have a propellor in your hand luggage so they will not know. On the security gate if an item is not clearly proscribed (i.e. a...

    Anodes on underwater stainless?

Thanks for that. The wait and see approach seems sensible. It would be another story if the boat was somewhere prone to fouling but even then the best approach seems to be to leave the rudder unpainted and scrub regularly.

    Anodes on underwater stainless?

Following from NealB’s post about a new rudder for his Trident 24(www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?427278-Ideas-on-corrosion-protection-please) I have just had a rudder fabricated for my Trident 24 with both the shaft and blade in stainless steel. I will leave the blade unpainted as the boat...

Siphon break – hose size for tell tale

Thanks to all for your helpful comments. 6mm hose with a clip to restrict flow if deemed necessary seems the way to go.

Siphon break – hose size for tell tale

The ASAP valve looks interesting and rather more reasonably priced than a replacement Vetus fitting. Is there a quick way of checking that it is working and not seized up in the closed position?
