Just a suggestion - so don't bite my head off for offering others services! If no hire firm can provide car with tow bar, surely one of the forumites could do the job - would need to reimburse expenses, etc. obviously. Have no tow bar myself but can't anyone else help over such a short distance?

Don't actually add loan to mortgage, take out further mortgage over 5 years, say. That was lowest rate I could find and for the shortest time I could afford. Worked for me may not suit all. Kev
