Hi Rob We haven't heard from you since the end of September. Any news on your employment? Also, any progress on the boat? Regards Paul

What were you doing in 1974?

I used to watch this race when it finished at Torquay. The most memorable finishes IMHO were when Jim Wynne sped Ghost Rider into the harbour to get medical attention to his for his mechanic who had broken both ankles. Also remember Don(?) Hunt, who's helming position was right over the...

Converting pull cord start to electric start on outboard engine.

We also once had a lawnmower with the wind-up spring thingy on the top. When the spring failed I used to start the mower with a socket and drill on the end of the crankshaft - it was however, a mains powered drill. Best of luck Binman. Paul

Where to buy heavy mooring chain?

You've had plenty of advice regarding tensions etc. But, have you tried a ball-point needle. When I first tried a bit of sailmaking, the was the first item I was advised to get. Paul

What a project - the owner must have very deep pockets. How refreshing - no hard hats and no lifejackets. Paul

    Using epoxy mini pumps.

Many years ago when I first used polyester resin, we used kiddies potties to mix the resin in. They have a handle so the heat from the hand does not make the resin go off quickly and, being flexible, set resin can be broken out of the potty. Biggest problem now will be to find the old...

Cutting course external thread on a lathe?

The thread which matches these dimensions is M22x3 in the Metric Thread - Extended Thread Size Range. See http://mdmetric.com/tech/M-thead%20600.htm Depending on your lathe, a course thread like this may require the lathe to be turned by hand. Paul

Circular saw...is something wrong with this photo?

If the saw blade rotated so that the cutting teeth went down into the wood, there is the possibility that the saw could "run away" from you. Paul
