    Oceanis 281 vs. Jeanneau SO 29.2 - experiences ?

Thanks for the links Tranona - I've followed some your postings before re: Feeling yachts (I once owned a 720). You're right - choices are limited. My 720 (from 1984) was fitted with an outboard and after battling one tide too many I vowed the next boat would be inboard equipped. There are...

    Oceanis 281 vs. Jeanneau SO 29.2 - experiences ?

Guys - no need to fall out ! I appreciate everyone's perspective. Without sending everyone off to sleep my outline question covered just the basics of my personal attempt to try and find the 'boating happy compromise' - that most people are faced with one way or another. Could I up the budget...

    Oceanis 281 vs. Jeanneau SO 29.2 - experiences ?

Thanks for the reply. I've looked at Hanse and Dehler models previously - but SWMBO thinks the interiors are a little too 'teutonic' - stark and unwelcoming basically.

    Oceanis 281 vs. Jeanneau SO 29.2 - experiences ?

Hi all. I'm returning to boat ownership after a few years without, and am drawing up a short list. The above boats have caught my eye so would appreciate any comment from current or previous owners. My guess is the Oceanis is perhaps the more cruise orientated - but from what I gather it's...

AIS MOB device. taking as hand luggage?

No doubt the rules have shifted over time. It seems to hinge on the Wh rating of the battery. BA's advice on Li / Li/Ion batteries here by example; https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/baggage-essentials/liquids-and-restrictions The manufacturer's documentation for this device...

AIS MOB device. taking as hand luggage?

I used to work for an Epirb / Plb manufacturer and this question came up regularly. The advice was to always carry it in hand luggage - and notify the airline beforehand. This is especially important with the device you have in mind as it uses a Lithium battery. Depending on the size of the...

Jeanneau Sunway 29 vs. First 285, opinions please!

From what I gathered from the Sailboat Data site the 285 was produced with deep fin and shallower wing keel option. It would be interesting to hear of any difference in sailing performance between the two, as the yardstick numbers don't seem to differ hugely.

Jeanneau Sunway 29 vs. First 285, opinions please!

Many thanks for your detailed reply, very useful. It sounds like a great boat, I note that she's a Tony Castro design, so that speaks volumes also. I am primarily looking for shoal draft as the mooring area I have in mind varies depth wise so I am prepared to shorten keel as a result, plus I'm...

Jeanneau Sunway 29 vs. First 285, opinions please!

After 4 years away from boats, I am considering donning the 'financial oilskins' of boat ownership once more, and have narrowed my search to either of the above - both in shoal draft form. There is a fair bit review wise for the Bene online, but very little as regards the Sunway, that I can...
