Born in Brum, grew up on a canal boat which my Dear Mother decided was no way for the kids to learn anything usful, we left the canal when I was 5. Went to local school until I was 10 when I got a place in a public school where I stayed until I was 15, achieving O and A levels for maths and English, a silver for DEA and several meetings with 'Mr Willow' who, when wielded by Mr Hobson had the desired effect. I truly loved that School, there were only 80 boys there and we had the best of everything, depending on your idea of 'good' best or 'O my God' best, but all in all an enjoyable time.
Being an engineer I love anything mechanical, especially if it involves getting my hands dirty.

- My sailing experience is not great, but I have had time in Grenada and Trinidad, achieving a second place finish with my girlfriends brother on his 36' Thousand Clowns' a very beautiful Nicholson, I believe.

- Engineering has been good to me and for me, it has taken me to Holland, a 10 year stint in Germany and 2 trips to Nanning in China.

- At the tender age of 73 I have decided it's time to stretch my legs and see how green the water is on the other side of the fence.

- My little boat is an Invader22 based in Gosport. I am slowly working my way thru a cosmetic overall, thankfully it's a sound boat and I have enjoyed a few trips round Wight and the localities.
