In most cases, if there is an error with the DISPLAY unit, an error code is generated, not so sure if error codes are displayed when there is a fault with the transducer. The connection junction box should be close to the base of the mast, mine is a small black box, about 3" x 2" x 0.75"...

The attached document might help with troubleshooting. For true wind speed, the B&G Wind gets the boat speed from the B&G speed display. When the yard removed the MHU, did they check that the connections between the MHU and the mounting were good, no corrosion and dry.
