Sorry, should have made it clear, the odometer reading is the total mileage showing on the chartplotter. I have both total and trip distances showing on the chartplotter screen, it is between these figures that the discrepancy is (ie after a trip the trip mileage is showing 29nm but the odometer...
I have an Eagle chartplotter which admittedly is a few years old, but seems to work OK. However I am noticing a discrepancy. After a trip, the trip distance will show, say, 29 nm, but the difference between the odometer reading at the start and the finish will be 33nm.
Can anyone explain this...
I have an unsightly gouge in my white, hard 'rubber'(not sure of actual composition but it is a pretty common item) D-profile rubbing strake, about 5mm deep, 5mm wide, by 30mm long. Any ideas how to fill/repair it. I have tried marine sealant, but that just peeled off after a few weeks. Any...
My boat (27ft motor boat) was secured to its UK South Coast marina pontoon the other night when a mishap occurred involving a large commercial vessel under way/making way. The resulting damage to my boat was extensive, and I had it hauled out for inspection/repairs.
A representative of the...
As I said in my original post, it is not possible to remove the tank, nor is there space anywhere else to install a second tank, which is why I'm trying to find an alternative solution - I'm sure there is one. At the moment I am able to bypass the holding tank and pump straight from the toilet...
Thanks for suggestions of using Essex flange - I hadn't heard of them. The 1.5in size is available with screw fitting only, which I think means I will be able to attach the right sized pipe to the outside of the flange, but not pass one through that bends to the bottom of the tank unless anyone...
I agree with the others that a galvanised tank is far from ideal but I understand your dilemma. Maybe worth investigating an epoxy coating?
The tank could be aluminium, I just assumed it was galvanised steel - I guess aluminium is a better material than steel?
For some reason beyond me, the outlet on my holding tank is positioned on the side near the top. This means that whenever I use the hand pump installed for the purpose I can only pump out 1/4 of the contents, if that. This is very frustrating. The tank is galvanised steel, and the outlet is...
I should perhaps made clear that the missing connection on the car ECU is clearly by design; although the same plastic socket is present on both on the car ECU it is not pierced to accommodate an electrical fitting.
During the recent best boating weather we've had for years, I've suffered from the incredible frustration of my boat being firmly tied up alongside, with a u/s ECU. The engines are AQ171c, and new replacement ECUs are impossible to find.
I do however have in my sticky mitt a car ECU, from a...
Spi D, whoever you are, you're a hero, I found a new one in the States for less than £100! It looks identical to the penta marine coil - I hope it works. Has anyone had experience of putting auto coils in boats?
Thanks, I would not have found that. Is it an auction site do you know, or is that the selling price? (5100 krone, which seems to equal about £500). Could be a lot (more) money down the pan if it only lasts a week, but I guess options are really limited.
One of my engines failed last week (at sea, it just died). I have finally pinned it down to a faulty ECU (coil is OK). The engines are Volvo Penta AQ171C. This is where the problems start. The ECU is no longer made, nor available it seems. I phoned a couple of business that advertise as...
I've recently disposed of my largish motor cruiser, 2 petrol engines on shaft drives, with engines easily accessible. I'm now looking for something more compact (less than 30'), which generally entails engines with outdrives. The problem is that on everyboat I've seen, only half the engine is...
