    Palma mooring

I was in the same position as you last year. As @petem suggests, I would take a weekend out and go down to visit all the marina offices as emails are mostly ignored and phone calls aren't much better. Earlier this year, I had my 30ft rib transported down to Port Calanova (South West of Palma...

    Gas explosion and boat sinks

Very sad to hear. I hope the casualties make a full recovery and terribly to hear of the lost dog too. Never nice to hear and hopefully not too many other pride and joys were affected. My boat was caught in the fire that happened around this time on the same pontoon in Conwy last year...

New to boating, first time owner

Hi Nathwraith, To follow on from @Parabolica, I was also boating out of North Wales (Absersoch & Conwy Marina) and given that I'm in Manchester, it was fairly convenient for day-trips and long weekends. Having become fed-up of the unpredictable weather and fewer options of places to visit when...

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

Your solution for the samson post sounds good and a nicely improved version that you usually see with the main weaknesses / issues addressed. Completely agree on the GRP moulding on some of the ribs designed for med use. I see plenty of advantages as you've identified but personally, I feel...

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

@jfm Samson post and anchor arrangements considered for future works on the boat. I'll have to give some thought for the immediate term though. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

I've had a few chats with Stewart, yes. I think plan is to enjoy this one this year and see how I feel about a new project in 2024. I agree, I don't blame the route they've gone down, just dries up the market for a specific boat that I really like.

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

Thanks John. A lot of time running through everything but mostly enjoyed the process. Nothing compared to your epic build but I’ve got to start somewhere… The boat currently has an Evinrude E-tec 200 (small block on it). Very light for power but with the 260l of fuel and few extra people it...

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

@z1ppy - Giovanni was great throughout and the quality of workmanship is incredible. Essentially, Scorpion factory standard! As for the boat & hull, it's a shame that Scorpion only service the very top end of the market now. I suspect if I can get my hands on one, I'll be looking for an 8.1 /...

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

Not something I'd thought of previously as it tends to be myself and a couple of mates going from a marina. Now that it'll be med-based, I suspect I may need to think this one through some more as my partner (and her friends) are much keener on the idea of med-based boating. Unfortunately, no...

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

Refurbishment works now finished! Very happy with the Silvertex Plato material / colour combination and the the new Permateek synthetic decking really breaks up the grey well (in my opinion). Now ready to enjoy this summer. Re-engine and nav gear upgrade pencilled in for next year! Thank you...

    New build Sanlorenzo SL96A 2024

JFM, as you know, I'm thoroughly enjoying the build thread - thank you for taking the time to share. I did notice on the drawings for the main deck layout that there is no internal dining table (unless I have missed it). I assume all by choice and presumably with it being med based, dining...

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

Thanks @dustywings - just read through your thread and we are also using Tye at Elite Teak, which is reassuring based on your comments! I think I'm looking more golden (which you referenced) and Modern is looking good to me at the moment. Appreciate the help.

    Scorpion rib refurbishment

@Parabolica - RE Scorpion, yes - when I was growing up, Scorpion were the best of the best for me. We had a few Avon Adventure (blue) ribs growing up that we towed up to the North West coast of Scotland and as far South as St Tropez. A few boat-less years while at University and early years of...
