Global warming or good old fashioned greed?

October is now officially a summer month at Brighton Marina and monthly paying customers like me are charged the summer rate for the month. What a rip off.

    UK Borders

Thanks. It seems a bit old fashioned that I have to telephone. Calls cost a $1 a minute from out here and we all know how long a conversation with a UK Civil Servant can take!

    SSB.. still a practicle tool?

I do NOT consider SSB essential for either contemplating nor, more to the point, going ocean sailing. I have owned two sets. One I bought when I was relatively inexperienced; the latest boat came with a set. I hardly used either on a good many ocean passages and time in anchorages. I didn’t...

advice about papers for my yacht

“During the course of his adventures Toad alternates between deep remorse for his arrogance and having relapses of it. An example of his arrogance is seen in his self-centered ditty, Toad's Last Little Song, a song he performs to an enthusiastic audience which exists, of course, only in his...

    Dentists whilst cruising?

A group of American dentist’s come once a year to St Vincent and provide free dentistry they have to have security guards to hold back the press of people wanting the service. Every 6 months the SDA church provides a visiting dentist for its congregation. In Venice we found dentistry good but...

They tried to steal my anchor!

Caught a group of French sailors taking my anchor – its big and they were struggling which is the only reason I heard them. I swing to my own mooring but always have an anchor out as a back-up. One guy was in the water I guess he swam down to it. I rowed across and took it from them they had...
