And without having read all the above posts I can say that I have owned three 2 bladed folding propellers on different boats. A Flexofold, a Radice and a Goril. First choice is the Flexofold, second the Gori. Never again the Radice which is the clunkiest and most vibratory thing in the world.
Based on my own experience:
+1 for Nick Vass. He surveyed my current boat and did a great job.
And John Cherry? He surveyed my last boat for me and I wouldn’t engage him again.
A mid river non walk ashore pontoon? Then you will be within a pontoon or two of us! We are on Red pontoon (the old A pontoon) in the summer, and this year will be back using CU Pro on the hull and Hempel hard racing antifouling on the keels and rudder.
Last year we used 3 leftover tins of...
All I can say about Rigit is that neither me nor any boat I have will return to his yard.
Meantime I’ve had good rigging work done at Martin Leaning’s place at Port Solent.
Out of interest, why would you want to remove this pin?
This morning I tried to start my boat’s engine, a Volvo 2002, only for the starter to refuse to start it. No problem I thought, I’ll use the starting handle.
And yes, some berk of a previous owner has removed the pin, and the starting...
I use cut up railway sleeper exactly as per your picture for my bilge keeled Konsort, as do many at my sailing club. Cut the sleeper into 4: 2 pieces at the front of the keels, 2 at the back.
Although this will be fine, my club also recommends a chock under the toe of the bow and one at the stern.
Ah, well you see, the people that we trained at Emsworth Sailing School were fully trained by the end of the week, usually gaining their RYA Dayboat Elementary certificate. If they were over 18 us instructors had usually trained them in drink buying and packed lunch sharing skills. What better...
Indeed, this was my experience with SML’s Cu Pro antifouling last year, even though I managed to apply all 5l to my Konsort. Flipping hopeless.
I also spoke with a ‘yacht maintenance pro’ last year who said that if he needed to get a decent performance antifouling finish on the bottom of his...
Agreed: they are a great and very capable boat, but I’m too fat to sit on the heads and read at the same time.
If you weigh more than about 15st you will need the Vancouver 274 that has a slightly larger heads on the starboard side.
Oh, another unreliable outboard thread. I do hope you have read the user manual and have had it serviced in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.
I use normal garage supplied E10 petrol in both my small outboards (Yamaha 2.5 4 stroke, Suzuki 2.2 2 stroke) with no problems at all.
I...
Yes, another question about boat pricing in our post-Covid world (well, August 2024 anyway).
I’ve decided to sell my Konsort and go for one of the boats that I should have bought in the first place. I hear tales of woe about the current market value of good Konsorts. Ah well, maybe I shouldn’t...
Yes they do: we have done this ourselves when we missed the tide for our mooring further up the harbour. Be warned that if you spend the night on board the waiting pontoon they will charge you the same rate as if you were inside the marina.
Do you want to wait? Try the visitor moorings in the...
