Re: Seagull 18'6" yacht by Bell Woodworking
Great to hear from you Mrs Seagull. Yes I owned Boaby (The Robert Allan) for around seven years, sailing on the Dart and Torbay area with trips to the clyde and the Crinan Canal. He is now with a new owner in Totness.
I know Sabibnes Gull well. Edwin...

Are you an owner yourself? Do you have any info to add to the pot?
As for Faceplate and the like, i suppose i will...
Hello Chaps.
Listen, this is getting serious. Every time someone asks for info on these boats all the replys say, that's right there is no info. Balderdash! We owners know something about our boats (keel bolt torque 25lb ft) and we need to get together and pool our knowledge.
There is a yahoo...
Thanks for the heads up. However, I have been using mine (is4.3) for three years now. Just shows how much I know about computers. It has taken me all along the SW coast and from Wales to the Clyde and the inner Hebrides. It took me blind through the rocks and shoals at Eigg to a perfect...
The standard I pad gps chip may tell you which pub you are in but my 1st generation steam powered I pad with bad elf will show which table I am sitting at. That's what I want. Accuracy.
Just bite the bullet and buy the bad elf gps. Not cheap, but do you want a cheap item to tell you where the hidden rocks are? No.

I thought the water was deeper than this!!!!
Rocket is indeed the real thing. I have passed it many times on it's mooring and it always catches my eye. I am really looking forward to the telly series. I may record it and watch it whilst cruising my wee 18footer through the Korriestumshie whirlpool this season.

Bell Seagulls
Hi there.
I found this old thread an wondered if the Seagull was ever bought. I am taking my Gull Boaby out this weekend, weather permitting, from Torquay. The weather is no problem for the boat, it's just that I dont like the rain much.
These wee boats are super for there size...
oil in outboard
easier to get are big 60ml disposible syringes from vets surgerys. i use them for oil changes on outboard gearboxes which are notorious for small fillers. with the advantage of knowing accuratley how much oil you have put in.

flexable LED
hi Hugh.
i have sourced a new type of LED strips with a flexible clear resin domed cover. These are IP65 rated which would be useful for application in boats.
The bad bit is as usual the price, and as they only have coloured in stock at the moment we would have to buy a 5m roll...
thanks folks.
that confirms what i thought and will allow us to get started. the mast is already split lengthwise and should be good for another fifty years when finished. the next questions will be about brightwork but time enough for that thorny issue.

I have to scarph in a new section to the bottom of the mast on my Seamew. It is a 1960s hollow mast laminated in two halves. What type of wood do i need and where can i get it.
John
Why is the water so high??

hi there.
