    SOF Warming Up

The 2 ports - Darse and Sante are part of the same company. The Sante harbourmaster gave me a card last year with contact details as I was wanting to berth there. Happy to PM it over. It’s a bit of a lottery as on a cruise day it’s not possible. not sure on size restrictions, you may now be a...

    SOF Warming Up

It’s hotting up finally in the SOF. Had a great time moored up in Port Sante, Villefranche and a calm anchorage in the Lerins. Hopefully the season has finally started!

Today at the port of Hyeres

Looking lovely out there. Out tonight for a week but it’s looking rather terrible for the weekend… typical.

    Slightly milky sterndrive leg oil!

The danger of this forum is that you’ve posted your concern and lots of people have said it’s a big problem or it’s going to be expensive. Even you have said do I need a strip / rebuild. Chill for one moment. This is way too intense. Especially a certain forum member who frequents this type of...

    Corsica & Sardinia

Thanks for all the tips. I’ll be sure to add it to my planning. So helpful to know which coasts are better etc. A lot to now look into and investigate. The agent I’m using was recommended by JRudge on a previous post. They seem really professional and it’s a decent price.

    Corsica & Sardinia

I will be travelling to Corsica and Sardinia this summer to hop over to Tunisia for VAT purposes. The plan is to get to the southern part of Sardinia in a fairly short window with a couple of stops, and once Tunisia is sorted (already all organised via an agent) we will have an extended cruise...

    IPS Ownership - My feedback

Yes, but the oil for the engines and genny are a drop in the ocean, I use Shell Rimula and it does an excellent job and is inexpensive. No fluids for steering as its not hydraulic - another amazing advantage I have now.

    IPS Ownership - My feedback

I might make my own and sell it. I can retire soon that way.

    IPS Ownership - My feedback

Without wanting this to turn into an IPS v Outdrive post, the boat size and type I have is only on IPS. I personally am much happier (thus far) on IPS than I was on outdrives, for a multitude of reasons. Post is maybe helpful for those contemplating a move to an IPS boat.

Buying my first motor boat any suggestions

As suggested, buy via a broker. At your price range you will get a nice boat, and the broker would / should have all history, reg docs and bills of sale. You have mentioned a survey and sea trial. I wholly advise you get a boat survey and in addition, a machinery survey, from a qualified marine...

    IPS Ownership - My feedback

When I purchased my current boat, there was a bit of chatter on my post in respect of IPS drives as well as quite a few other posts on here that have been a little unfavourable to IPS drives. I thought it would be helpful to give my feedback as an IPS boat owner, after 16 months of having it...

    SOF Shipyards

Thanks. I was very very lucky. They had a yacht being launched and had one space going. Phillipe is a top chap too. Plus a great place to spend a few days. All worked out, phew…
