+1 for the Worx linked above. I bought a couple of extra attachments for it, so I can pull water from the river, a regular bottle as well as from the tap.
There's a two stage pressure control switch on the device. They also sell a more powerful version as well now, which I'd be tempted by.
First come first served with the booms - many people arrive the Sunday afternoon / evening of the previous weekend, as soon as racing at the regatta finishes. No booking, and you allowed to raft up 2 abreast (might be 3, but I think it's 2). We only arrived Sat morning, so not in prime...
A bit of a thread drift, but we were on the booms this year (on the inner boom, not the main one) and made this timelapse of Saturday night procession. It's more fun to watch the controlled chaos in person, but gives an idea of what goes on.
Hey Bigplumbs, with our prior S24 and now S28, when left in the water, we'd normally dewinterise once the ambient temps stopped dropping below 0c overnight. Waited until then in case a hard freeze affected the fresh water plumbing and split the plastic pipes.
We took Spectre (the S28) out last...
I got through it no probs, although some of the website formatting wasn't great, despite a full screen browser, on some of the multi-selection questions.
At this rate I might enjoy some wine :)
My first thought, especially given your location, would be Gil or John from DB Marine - they are the Volvo Penta specialists and are not far from you at Cookham. They look after our boat very well.
Glad you had a great time, looking forward to passing you on the river! What's the boat name?
This might be very obvious and simple advice, but when I'm solo I always take a minute to coil the lines just before I'm leaving a lock, leaving them prepped and ready to hand to simply pick up and either pass or throw over a bollard at the following lock. Means I can enter the lock, stop the...
Likewise, never been a problem. Often do mention to the lockie on the way in that I'm solo, as if heading upstream can be fun to throw lines up that high, and they always assist.
I've always had bow & stern lines prepared, rather than being in a tangled mess. The only requirement for locks, I...
I've just looked at an old log from a couple of years ago (Limehouse > Windsor Racecourse. Took just over 5 hours from passing Brentford locks to get to Staines road bridge. That includes a quick pub stop at Walton.
I reckon you'll get there before 6.30, but obviously dependant on if the locks...
