Thanks for all the input. Hadn't thought about the reliability of the automatics. Does anyone use the buoyancy aids that have the air top-up (150N)? We are doing coastal passages and have the on-deck rules of lifey and harness. Can only see the top-up being of use in a major incident...

Hi, I'm thinking of getting an automatic lifejacket for my petite three year old daughter. The foam ones are very bulky and restrict movement about the boat. I'm prepared that an automatic might need rearming a few times during the season but more important that the crew is kept happy...
