Boats and crew numbers for club racing. Sym vs Asym

Why has no one ever designed a boat that rates around .950 , can compete with 4 up? (With a single rudder and draught of < 1.8m) or have they ? And I've missed it/ not yet found it.

@flaming This man talks so much sense. Absolutely spot on.

Is being a race officer a necessary part of sail racing

All depends on the Club and the number of active racers. Someone has to do it or else there is no racing !

    RORC Seminar

The suggestion was that the newbies boat base number would be ' doctored' to such an extent that he couldn't lose! , but that it was all done to encourage new boats into racing. In my opinion it suggests the whole scheme is just a bit of a joke and undermines it as an alternative to those...

    RORC Seminar

Attended the event at Royal Temple last night. Nothing really new . The RYA chap lost me when he suggested that races( run under NHC) should effectively be fixed so that any first time racer that happens to turn up wins the race. Is that nonsense ?

Much success at club level and also success at regatta beating much faster boats easily in the right conditions( including a...

Keep us updated with your rating change. What boat ? I had hoped to drum up collective support for weigh when we all get lifted back in but alas no one else was interested. Wouldn't really help the 'club spirit' for just one boat to be gaining yet more perceived advantage so have passed for...

Received my IRC 2016 Yearbook yesterday and all the questions that one might ask are answered at the back. Perhaps , as its the intention to grow the adoption of the rule and rating further, it might be an idea to show to photographs of more typical club cruiser events in addition to the...

Non really . I was really just wondering whether it was possible or worthwhile to have boat officially weighed as part of a non endorsed rating, considering that older boats are always at a weight, and therefore rating disadvantage against their designed standard weight used as a default in...

How often and do sails have to be measured by an IRC measurer to remain endorsed and can a certified boat weight be submitted with a self declared sail measurements to refine a rating? Apologies for the questions but we went into IRC through the RORC. Club start up scheme last year. Very...
