Now that the COVID situation is easing slightly it is time to get back out on the water. I've been sailing off and on for 15 years and recently bought our second boat, a well equipped Dufour 325 based in Southampton.
I'm looking for crew with varying levels of experience for relaxed weekend...
Hi Mal, now that things are easing COVID-wise I will be looking for crew for relaxed day sailing at weekends in the solent, maybe the odd overnight as COVID restrictions ease further. The boat is a 10 year old Dufour 325, based in Southampton and I've been sailing on and off for about 15 years...
I used to crew on a Sadler 29 for a couple of years, lovely looking boat and a pleasure to sail, that one was a shallow fin so leeway wasn't great.
I went on to buy an Etap 28i - also double-skinned like the Sadler. The only problem with the Etap was cobwebs in the (very shallow) bilges :-)...
There was a nurse who was a member of a sailing club that I used to belong to who wrote an (almost) thesis on this. One of the conclusions made was that the symptoms of mal de mere are very similar to low blood sugar. The suggestion was to eat every couple of hours (along with staying...
Yes, we're down at the boat on Saturday so will ask at Deacons - good idea.
And no, I don't need an agent - just someone who knows what they're doing. I've always found that personal recommendations (from these forums and elsewhere) produce far better outcomes than slavishly using appointed...
Need to get some work done on our Eberspacher (replacement insulation and possible additional silencing) - can anyone recommend a good company/individual please (the boat is in Swanwick)?
Many thanks,

ashtead thank you for the suggestion. Flexiteek seems more suitable to being stuck down to a deck rather than replacing a solid teak gate. I have asked on the Dufour Owners forum too and the best suggestion there is some kind of rubber swimming pool mat which might do the trick
Thanks Lucy52 - yes that was one of the sites I'd come across. I think that may have been the company that recommend a smaller size grate to make it more comfortable under foot.
I was actually suggest by the survey as a way to reduce/stop gel coat crazing on the floor of the head (as...
I want to get a teak shower grate for the heads in our new (to us) Dufour 325 GL.
Is there anywhere that I can buy something the right size off the shelf or will this need to be a custom-made job?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts
We've just bought a 10 year old Dufour, the offer was of course subject to survey and sea trial. As she was out of the water with no head-sail, my main interest in the sea trial was checking that the engine and autohelm worked and to haul up the main just to make sure it was in good order - all...
