    Always trust your charts???

John, do you not have a lead line on board your trusty vessel? I'm a firm believer in the Mk 1 eyeball plus a bit of weighted string in unfamiliar close quarters situations.

    Why are danbouys so expensive?

The item is marketed using the words "safety", "life-saving" and "marine" hence justifying the mark-up of at least 150%, more if you can get it!

Anyone live in London? And sail???!!

And with the new M25/A3 junction works having just started at J10 for the next two years things will probably get worse before getting better.

Oops! The Perils of Brown Water Sailing

Been there, done that, same place! All caused by our skipper's determination to get to the pub before last orders was called. Admittedly his second comment after hitting the putty was "Best get the kettle on before we heel too much." We were however, in good company as one of the inshore...

QHM Portsmouth to become KHM Portsmouth

'Cos there is a HM at the Commercial Port as well as Q(K)HM. Admittedly the Commercial one monitors Ch13 and Q(K)HM Ch 11 but they have been known to operate both.

UK’s biggest warship suffers propeller shaft damage off south coast after setting sail for US

PoW is just moving up to take pole position on Princess Royal Jetty which, I believe, is the Primary berth for the carriers. Only taking tugs, no pilot.

She's come in to offload "stores" as well as locking the shaft prior to her trip oop norf. Can one assume the "stores" might the the noisey, bangey things? I wouldn't think Rosyth dry dock would be too keen on working on a fully armed ship.
