    Thames estuary pilot

I'm planning a trip from Portsmouth to St Katherine's Dock. Can anyone recommend a good pilot book which covers the area from Ramsgate to SKD?

    Raymarine transducer

Most likely that your speed transducer is just blocked with marine life which stops the paddlewheel going round. You should have a blanking plug which you can swap for the speed impellor ( even when afloat) so that you can clean it out. I normally fit the blanking plug when leaving the boat...

    Removing gaffa tape from gelcoat?

Acetone is Ok providing you wash down thouroughly with lots and lots of fresh water. Same applies to using petrol. My best solution (pardon the pun) is 'Sticky Stuff Remover' available from Kleenezee or Betaware ( those mail order people who regularly deliver catalogues to your door). Brilliant...

    westerly seahawk propshaft length?

Hi, does anyone know the exact length of the propshaft on a Westerly Seahawk? I can't measure as the boat is still in the water but I need to line up a replacement to minimise the time out of the water before all the sunshine dissappears!

    The Lighthouse - Haslar marina

I've had a really awful experience there recently. Basicaly waited two hours for food they hadn't got and a further 30 mins for a refund. They seemed to be totally disorganised. I have emailed them the details of my experience twice now, but they've not responded.... Anyone had similar?

    Outboard servicing Portsmouth area.

ditto Ron Hale.....no idea of customer service and expensive.... £84 for my Suki 2.5 four stroke. Obviously they are making too much money to care. Real pity as I live less than 500 yards from their front door, but will never go again.

    Where to anchor in Portsmouth

Try Portchester, just in front of the Castle. Good holding in the same mud that the Romans used and usualy very quiet - apart from the regular traffic up to Port Solent. Good trip ashore to the Castle which is well worth a visit and a really decent pub just round the corner. Alternatively...
