We had many faultless years service from our Mikuni until a few weeks ago when it decided not to fire up despite many attempts.
Done the usual checks, diesel, fuel filter, power. All ok. Then removed glow plug. Didn’t see any obvious problem but decided to replace it with a new one. Spent many...
Before leaving home we checked the Inshore Waters forecast issued at 0600z. It forecast Southwest 4 or 5 increasing 6, then veering west or northwest 3 to 5.
Before we were about to slip we also looked at Chimet which was reporting 17-19kts.
So, based on the above we were happy to go but keep...
Went down to the boat this morning, planning on a sail to Beaulieu and back. Good tides for the trip. Sorted out the boat, engine checks, etc., etc. Called the lock keeper for a lock out. All ok. Started engine, released the warps and applied gentle forward power. No movement. Tried a tad more...

After exhaustively checking settings etc I gave up and emailed Lowrance support.
Quick response from them:
“Unfortunately this is a known problem that began a couple of weeks ago.
It is due to some satellite maintenance / servicing...
We had this dilemma when we bought our boat. It came with a life raft than had 6 months left until its next service.
It was in a valise and was kept in the cockpit locker which is very deep. I couldn't believe how heavy and awkward it was to handle. Checking the specifications showed that it...
