For serious cleaning I use acetone, (dodgey in confined space), a french bloke this year advised me that cheap white vinigar is good, I used it to wash the hull before painting with Toplac, the results are fine and it certainly stopped water "beading" on the final rinse.

Wrong, the kicker has the same effect as with the foot in a track. I have a loose footed full battened main and the kicker flattens the main when required.
